March LectureCarolyn Drake and EbtiBayfront Theater (BATS Improv) at Fort Mason, San FranciscoSunday, March 3, 6:00 pm PST |
Join us for our next event in the Spring 2024 Lecture Series with two artists focusing on how photographs are constructed materially, intellectually and emotionally. Magnum photographer Carolyn Drake will offer insight into her new work and publication Men Untitled, which challenges entrenched binaries around gender and the male gaze in photography and our broader culture. Drake works on long term photo-based projects embracing collaboration, often creating installations combining photography with sewing, collage and sculpture. She is interested in collapsing the traditional divide between author and subject, and the real and imaginary, Egyptian-American artist Ebti will share her installation-based photography, including work in her upcoming solo exhibition at Fort Mason hosted by SF Camerawork. Ebti is a multidisciplinary artist, a self-taught photographer and a translator living between Cairo and San Francisco. |
