Norma & Evert Persons’ Journalism Scholarship! 

The Press Democrat Journalism Trust is looking for aspiring journalism students entering college to apply for their Norma & Evert Persons’ Journalism Scholarship! 

The scholarship is aimed at supporting the next generation of journalists through financial aid, mentorship, and internship opportunities. 

Applications are open from now until Friday, May 3rd. 


The Trust will award the two most qualified students with $2,500 that may go toward books, tuition, and/or living expenses while enrolled. Scholarships are renewable annually with a qualifying GPA of 2.5 and passing 9 units per semester. To apply for The Norma & Evert Persons’ Journalism Scholarship, students must fill out the online form and include a reference and a cover letter. Letters of recommendation and sample work are encouraged, but not required. Scholarship recipients will be announced in mid-May. For more information and a link to the application, go to :
