We want to see the work our photo community has been making (that means YOU!)

PhotoAlliance and Pretty Gritty invite photographers to submit their work for So Slammed: A Necessarily Excessive Group Photography Event, a high-energy live slideshow presentation celebrating contemporary photography and artist storytelling.

Photographers whose work is selected by our jury will present a 10-image series from a single body of work during a live ‘Slide Slam’ event on April 25 at Pretty Gritty in San Francisco.

WHAT IS A “SLIDE SLAM”?
A traditional format here at PhotoAlliance, (formerly done with physical slide film and projectors, and now with computers), it is a fast-paced format where multiple photographers—for this event, up to 20—each give a live presentation of their work on stage. Part artist talk, part performance, and part community party, it is similar in spirit to karaoke or a short-form lecture.

Each selected photographer will get an allotted time from 3-5 minutes to present their work from a singular project in front of an audience. Afterwards, the audience and the artists enjoy a meet and greet at Pretty Gritty, the former Rayko Building in SF. There will also be other art events throughout the weekend, including live music after our event, so you won’t want to miss this!
OPTIONAL PRINT EXHIBITON: SO SLAMMED PIN-UP WALL
Accepted artists will also have the opportunity to participate in a print exhibition at Pretty Gritty during the event weekend.

Details:
Up to 4′ of wall space per artist, with unlimited # of prints in the space. Installation will be on a pin-up wall in the event space; casual installation, unframed and framed works are accepted. Wall labels will be provided by PhotoAlliance unless artists prefer to supply their own info cards.

Space is limited and will be allocated to accepted artists on a first-confirmed basis.

In addition to the So Slammed pin-up wall, there will be a Pretty Gritty-curated section with guest curators, the judges’ own work, work by Bill Daniels, and (of course!), a pin-up section for walk in random artwork posted by weekend attendees.
PART OF A BROADER VENUE & COMMUNITY EVENT
This Slide Slam is part of a broader weekend of programming at Pretty Gritty!
