| Announcing EBPCO’s next exhibition: “In Focus: A Survey of Bay Area Photography”, opening at Oakland Photo Workshop Friday, August 7th with an artist reception from 6-9pm. IN FOCUS celebrates the creativity, diversity, and strength of the photography community in the Bay Area. Curated by Ann Jastrab of Carmel’s Center for Photographic Art, and held in celebration of Oakland Photo Workshop’s five year anniversary, this exhibition brings together 50 artists in the gallery and an additional 30 artists in an expanded online exhibition, highlighting the many ways photography can document, question, connect, and inspire.This exhibition will be on view through September 13th, 2026. | Advanced Darkroom Printing – August 6th + 13th, 6-9:30pmThis two-week advanced workshop (8/6-8/13) is for registered users of the EBPCO darkroom who want to take their printing to the next level. Participants learn techniques to work more efficiently and effectively in the darkroom to get consistently good prints with vivid blacks, rich mid-tones, and sparkling highlights! |
| Advanced Lightroom – August 9th, 3-7pmThis one-day workshop is for those comfortable with the basics of Adobe Lightroom to explore more complex editing techniques. Participants gain a deeper understanding of Lightroom’s capabilities, including global and selective masking, presets, working with virtual copies, preparing files for different outputs, and more! |
| Darkroom Refresher – September 5th, 10am-2:30pmThis one-day workshop is for those with some previous black & white darkroom experience who’ve been away from it for some time. Participants go through the process of black & white film processing and darkroom printing with an instructor as a brief hands-on refresher to these foundational techniques. |
| Group Critique Session – September 8th, 6-8:30pmOur group critique session offers participants a supportive space to speak about their work, gain insight from peers, and refine ideas. September’s session will be led by Jan Watten and facilitated by Bob Shonkoff. This session is open to EBPCO members only. Those without a membership can start one at ebpco.org/membership. |

| It’s Photo Walk Time! |
| EBPCO’s next photo walk is happening at 1pm on the first Sunday of the month, August 2nd! Bring any camera you like, and be prepared to wander and shoot for up to an hour. This month we will be exploring Oakland’s Temescal neighborhood. We’ll gather at MacArthur BARTaround 12:45, and take off on our walk shortly after 1pm. We’ll walk around the neighborhood for a while and end at Temescal Brewing. |

| We are so excited to welcome Grace Fujii to the East Bay Photo Collective team, as our new Marketing Coordinator!Born and raised in the Sacramento Valley, Grace moved to the Bay Area to attend UC Berkeley and is now proud to call Oakland home. They have a diverse background including cat rescue, astrophysics, studio art, graphic design, environmental education, and youth development. While they have many interests and an ever-growing list of hobbies, they always come back to photography. |

Jim Marshall Exhibition Opening at SFO Museum Join SFO Museum for an evening celebrating the opening of Jim Marshall: Two Sides of the Same Coin— a new exhibition exploring the work of legendary photographer Jim Marshall, whose images made in the Bay Area throughout the 1960s captured music, protest, and community, including the Beatles’ final live concert at Candlestick Park in 1966. |

| From EBPCO instructor and advisory board member Nicole White:I’m excited to share that my solo exhibition, An Unending Path, opens next month at Chung 24 Gallery in San Francisco. The exhibition will be on view from August 12–September 26, with an opening reception on Saturday, August 15, from 2–5 PM. I would love to see you there if you’re able to make it.An Unending Path began with a small pen-and-ink drawing my great-uncle made while working at a château in rural France during the Great Depression. Nearly a century later, I revisited the landscape that shaped my great-uncle’s life, using photography, printmaking, and early photographic methods to collapse past and present. |
I’ll also be giving an artist talk on Saturday, September 12, from 3–4 PM, and I’d be delighted if you could join us for that conversation as well. |
