Please join us at the Herold Mahoney Library Gallery at SRJC Petaluma for the Beautiful TRASH art exhibit opening reception on Thursday, August 27, 4:30-6:30pm. The exhibit is in partnership with Recology Sonoma Marinand Artstart. The exhibit will be on view during Library hours from August 24 through December 11, 2026.
The Beautiful TRASH exhibit features artwork from the Recology Artstart Student Hub (TRASH). Participating student artists represent Petaluma High School, Sacramento State, Santa Rosa Junior College, and Sonoma State University. Artwork by the Artstart mentor and the Artstart program assistant are also featured. Refreshments will be provided by Recology Sonoma Marin.
The Recology Artstart Student Hub (TRASH) is an art program that offers student artists a unique opportunity to expand their creative practices by working with materials that would otherwise be sent to the landfill. The resulting artwork is intended to spark reflection and curiosity about waste, and our habits with waste.
Look for the book display in the Mahoney Library Gallery featuring sustainability themes. These books may be checked out by students, SRJC employees, and community borrowers.
