Patterns by Jon McCormack
In this image, a flock of flamingos drifts over the swirling yellow-green algae of Lake Magadi in southern Kenya. It’s one of a series of graphic photos capturing the natural world in Jon McCormack’s book, Patterns. In it, he travels across the globe detailing the shapes and colours he observes in subjects as diverse as a rainbow-flecked waterfall in California’s Yosemite and the blue and white stripes of an iceberg in Antarctica.

PHOTOGRAPHER JOEL ROUSE ON CAPTURING SEVILLE’S FERIA DE ABRIL

“Architecture is my favourite subject to photograph and I like to include people to give a sense of scale or add identity to a location. I arrived in Seville during the Feria de Abril, when thousands of people dress in traditional Andalucian clothing. This group caught my eye in the Plaza de España. Their outfits told the story of the feria against one of the city’s finest architectural achievements.”
